PROCEEDINGS OF REGULAR MEETING APRIL 26, 2021
A regular meeting of the Birnamwood Village Board was held on Monday evening, April 26, 2021 at the Matsche Center.
All members were present.
Also present: Chris Jensen, Ed Resch, Tom Gatz, Rueben Eckardt & Karl Behm
President Sprague called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Minutes were read and approved.
Bills were presented.
Resch/Schmidt m/s/c to approve bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes.
Still working with Charter to get phone service hooked up.
We will wait to hear from Cirrinity in regard to rental fee.
Trustee Dombrowski sat it on a zoom call with the League of Municipalities and the DOR about the American Rescue
Plan Act. Wisconsin will receive 2.3 billion in aid to be distributed May 11, 2021. Village will receive $75,000 in two payments in 2021 & 2022. Funds will need to be spent appropriately by Dec. 31, 2024.
Board members met at the ball park to discuss wheel chair access. Curb will be removed and crosswalk painted from Main Street east side sidewalk to ballpark and eliminate parking spot on North end of Main St.
Walk way will be addressed if needed in future.
Signs shall be placed instructing ball players to park in back parking lot to allow street parking for fans and also reminder to turn field lights off once game is complete.
Chris Jensen and Karl Behm did some sod removal on Corazalla Dr.
Rueben Eckardt suggested some maintenance be done on the front of the old village hall.
Schmidt/Klumpyan m/s/c to allow purchase of approximately $1,900.00 of chemicals for Birchwood Pond for the summer. Motion carried with Resch voting no.
Resch/Schmidt m/s/c to grant picnic licenses to Birnamwood Little League and Birnamwood Baseball. Roll call vote – all yes.
Due to the large number of unlicensed dogs/cats and the cost associated with reminding owners to license them, we will look into increasing fees.
Discussion was held on residents calls received about garbage services. It is Village policy for all residents to have garbage collection to prevent garbage being dumped elsewhere and also to help with recycling.
Building permit was granted to Mike Sprague.
The utility moratorium has been lifted and many residents will receive disconnection notices for lack of payment.
A letter was received from Jason Rieck who is taking over the Witt-Birn summer legion baseball program and will be overseeing all of the youth baseball programs. This will include Babe Ruth and starting a Pony team. He is looking for donations as is the Witt-Birn Sports Center Fundraising Committee building project. The Village normally does not contribute to these type of things but will help spread the word and post info. on our website.

Resch/Klumpyan m/s/c to return to open session at 9:25 p.m.
Dombrowski/Resch m/s/c to obtain insurance for Chris Jensen through the Marketplace for reduction in insurance cost under the CARES Act. Roll call vote – all yes.
