PROCEEDINGS OF REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 2023
A regular meeting of the Birnamwood Village Board was held on Monday evening, November 13, 2023 at the Matsche Center.
Trustee Dombrowski was absent.
Also present: Conner Opper, Tom Gatz, Chanda & Phil Kersten, Joshua & Jenna Weix & Mike Hable
Meeting was called to order at 7:09 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
President Sprague consulted with the Village attorney in regard to vacation of the alleyway on Wausau St. The attorney is checking into it and will reply back.
Minutes were read and approved from October 23, 2023
Bills were presented.
R.Resch/Schmidt m/s/c to approve bills. Roll call vote – all yes.
Building Blocks will be starting repairs at old Village Hall.
Krystle Spiegelberg has taken charge of the Village tree lighting event, Berry Merry Holiday Kickoff!, to be held December 2. Event will start with a parade at 6:00 p.m., followed by tree lighting at the Matsche Center. Birnamwood Polka Days will have soups available for purchase, ugly sweater contest, kids crafts, cookies and refreshments at Chet & Emil’s with DJ Derrick at 8:00 p.m. We will wait to see if any funds are needed later.
Some of the street decorations have been updated with LED light bulbs and will be hung this week.
26 water disconnection letters were delivered. 10 accounts remained unpaid and were to be shut off. DPW was not able to do so and procedures need to be revamped by spring.
A snow removal bid was received from K & D Construction. End loader with 5 yd. bucket $145.00/hr. Quad axle dump truck 20 yds, $130.00/hr.
Our December 25th meeting will be moved to December 26th.
Wording on our storage container ordinance should be changed from just residential areas to include all other zoned areas on a temporary basis with permit and approval of Village Board.
Budget calculations were reviewed and adjustments made. Klumpyan/E.Resch m/s/c to adopt budget and set levy with collection of property taxes totaling $202,568.00.
Receipts for October were reported.
