PROCEEDINGS OF REGULAR MEETINGOCTOBER 23, 2023
A regular meeting of the Birnamwood Village Board was held on Monday evening, October 23, 2023 at the Matsche Center.
Trustee Dombrowski was absent.
Also present: Conner Opper, Tom Gatz, Chanda & Phil Kersten, Joshua & Jenna Weix, Reid Paxson, Jason Cieslewicz & Lawrence Hable
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Chanda Kersten presented the board with a petition for discontinuation of the public alleyway located between 405 Wausau St & 409 Wausau St. Discussion followed. President Sprague will consult with Village counsel.
Minutes were read and approved from October 9, 2023
Bills were presented.
R.Resch/Schmidt m/s/c to approve bills. Roll call vote – all yes.
Still waiting for Building Blocks to do repairs at old Village Hall.
Contact has been made with Hanson’s to move the hydrants. Waiting on cost estimate.
Estimate from CBS Squared to prepare operational evaluation reports for phosphorus, nitrogen, temperature and conversion to seepage cells is $33,340.00 through 2027.
A plowing plan is in place for Breezewood Lane. Addtitional road work may be needed in the spring.
Building permit was issued to Ron Resch.
1 application has been received for clerk/treasurer position.
School superintendent Garret Rogowski emailed the cost projections for the wall to be built in the library to separate public from school access for safety concerns. He asked that the Village pay half, which would be $2,155.00. No change in library hours.
President Sprague stated we need to revisit our ordinance for storage containers as it does not address commercial areas.
President Sprague will meet with a village resident who has an abundance of tires on his property.
Discussion was held in regard to having a Village Christmas tree as was mentioned in the past. Trustee Resch suggested under the bell tower to protect the tree from the elements.
No bids were received for snow removal.
Trustee R. Resch stated that the American Legion is looking into a program to collect deer hides and funds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Program.
