| A regular meeting of the Birnamwood Village Board was held on Tuesday evening, May 26, 2020 | |
| at the Matsche Center. | |
| All members were present. | |
| Also present: Tom Gatz, Chris Jensen, Larry & Cathy Kessen & Ed Resch. | |
| President Sprague called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. | |
| Pledge of Allegiance was recited. | |
| Cathy Kessen inquired in regard to the status of blacktopping on Matthew Dr. | |
| Minutes were read and approved. | |
| Bills were presented. | |
| Resch/Schmidt m/s/c to approve bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. | |
| R. Resch/Behm m/s/c to purchase Backes Store Property for $15,000.00 and proceed with demolition and | |
| sell property to Ed Resch when complete. Roll call vote – all yes. | |
| We will continue to rent out Matsche Center for events with “use at your own risk” added to contract. | |
| Ball park fence repairs in progress. | |
| Schmidt/Behm m/s/c to hire Hanson Sanitation to do projects on High St and Birch St at cost of time & material | |
| with a cap of $11,000.00. Roll call vote – all yes. | |
| Schmidt/Dombrowski m/s/c to hire K & D Construction to construct parking area and walkway in Birchwood | |
| Park at a cost of $1,800.00. Roll call vote – all yes. | |
| Speed sign reports continue to show that 75% of autos are exceeding speed limit. | |
| Ordinance committee will start to work on updating ordinances so that they can be enforced properly. | |
| R. Resch/Dombrowski m/s/c to grant fireworks seller permit to Les Siegel with stipulation of a $250.00 clean | |
| up fee be attached and returned at end of term if property is left in good condition. Roll call vote – all yes. | |
| Recycling grant was received for $554.59. | |
| Report was received from Shawano County Sheriff’s department that the Village of Birnamwood has 333 | |
| incidents in 2019. Up from 229 in 2018. | |
| Question was raised that seeing we have not been able to find a new Board member to fill the vacant | |
| position, is it possible to decrease the size of the Board? | |
| Ron Resch will fill the vacant position on the planning committee. | |
| Question was also asked if there is a ordinance in regard to shipping containers that individuals are | |
| now using for storage on properties. | |

| A regular meeting of the Birnamwood Village Board was held on Monday evening, May 11, 2020 | ||
| at the Matsche Center. | ||
| All members were present. | ||
| Also present: Tom Gatz, Merriam Nelson & Ed Resch. | ||
| President Sprague called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. | ||
| Pledge of Allegiance was recited. | ||
| Minutes were read and approved. | ||
| Bills were presented. | ||
| Behm/Schmidt m/s/c to approve bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. | ||
| Liberty Bank is asking $25,000.00 for the store. Not worth it. We will wait and see what happens next. | ||
| Covid-19 rules keep changing. Wondering how our Ambulance Dept. is holding up. | ||
| Ball park surfacing complete. Fencing to be completed on the 18th. | ||
| Trustee Dombrowski submitted a phase 1 proposal for ditches and culverts in the Corazalla Subdivision. | ||
| Need to start getting cost estimates and repairs done before road deteriorates entirely. | ||
| Birchwood Park restocking complete. Trustee Schmidt is getting another estimate for parking lot and | ||
| pathway from shelter to pond. | ||
| President Sprague spoke with Village Attorney in regard to enforcement of ordinances and fee | ||
| assessments. We need to get set up on the Court dockets for both counties and have our ordinances | ||
| written correctly so they are enforceable and list the amounts of fees to be assessed. Initial set up | ||
| would cost approximately $1,000-1,500. | ||
| Reports were received from the portable speed sign. A large percentage of traffic is in violation. | ||
| The next step is to report to the County so streets can be monitored. | ||
| Committees were discussed and realigned with members assigned as listed on attachment. | ||
| A letter was received from the Tavern League asking for a decrease in fees for liquor licenses due to | ||
| the lack of business from Covid-19. We will wait until the next meeting to see how regulations | ||
| change. | ||
| Open Book will be May 27, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Board of Review will be June 3, 2020 for | ||
| the same time period. | ||
| Next meeting will be postponed until Tuesday, May 26th, because of Memorial Day on Monday. | ||
| Many ATV-UTV violations are being observed. Residents need to remember that it is a privilege | ||
| to use these vehicles and Village streets and this can be rescinded at any time. | ||
| Receipts were reported for April. | ||

ATV/UTV Users!
The Village Board has observed many ATV/UTV violations. Please remember that ATV/UTV use on Village streets is a privilege, not a right! If regulations are not followed, the Board can rescind the ordinance just as easily as it was enacted!
